What's Included in Mossy Ford Brake Service
Brake inspection (included with The Works® Package)
Every oil change at Mossy Ford includes a brake inspection — pad thickness measurement, rotor inspection, brake fluid check, hardware check, and hydraulic
system check. If we find anything that needs attention, we'll tell you before any work happens.
Brake pad replacement
Pad replacement using Motorcraft OEM brake pads engineered specifically for your Ford's brake system. We use the correct friction compound (varies by
model and intended use), proper bedding-in procedure, and Ford-specified torque values for installation.
Rotor service or replacement
Depending on rotor condition, we either machine (resurface) the existing rotors to factory specification or replace with new Motorcraft rotors.
Resurfacing extends rotor life when sufficient thickness remains; replacement is needed when rotors are worn below minimum thickness or have other
defects.
Brake fluid service
Brake fluid is hygroscopic — it absorbs water from the atmosphere over time, which lowers its boiling point and can cause brake fade under heavy use. Ford
typically recommends brake fluid replacement every 30,000 miles or every 3 years. Our brake fluid service uses Ford-spec DOT 4 LV brake fluid.
Caliper service
Stuck caliper pistons, torn dust boots, and corroded caliper hardware are common in older Fords. Caliper service can include cleaning, lubrication of
slide pins, dust boot replacement, or full caliper replacement when needed.
Full brake system service
For older Fords, high-mileage vehicles, or vehicles with multiple brake issues, full brake system service addresses all components together — pads,
rotors, calipers, hardware, fluid, hoses, and any wear items. More expensive but more thorough.
